The owner at the time dismantled his late 19th century gambrel roofed barn and repurposed the oak beams and trusses for this unique mountain home. The silo below still stands near the original barn site. These original oak beams/trusses are exposed and open in the living area of the house where the ceiling soars to 19 feet.
The foundation is clad with natural stone both inside and outside of the walk out basement. The upper parts of the house are covered with rough sawn wood board and batten siding on the exterior, true to the original barn. All of the interior doors are custom made of solid tongue and groove wood with Z-bracing and black iron latch hardware, again echoing the barn motif.
The brick fireplace chimney measures 6-8 x 3-2 and extends from the basement to the roof unobstructed and is a monumental feature in the home. The chimney has three flues, one for the main level fireplace, one for the basement wood stove, and one (currently unused) that is directed into the HVAC mechanical room for a possible gas or wood burning furnace. The main level open fireplace has a Heatilator insert and fan system which produces a great amount of heat. The fully exposed internal chimney holds the heat to keep the inside of the home warm and cozy. Firewood is abundant on the property.
The primary bedroom is on the main floor with a walk-in closet. Wake up to the first rays of the sun and enjoy the brilliant sunrise from your bed. The upper floor features two bedrooms, a full bathroom and a spacious loft overlooking the Livingroom. The lower-level recreation room is a ground level walk-out and is equipped with a half bathroom and access to the one car garage/workshop.
